Events Assistants

6 months fixed-term & stand-by basis

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral has been at the centre of our history and culture for over 800 years. Dating from the 13th Century and built in honour of Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick’s is the national Cathedral of the Church of Ireland and is also one of Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions. The Cathedral is the third most visited admission-charging tourist attraction in Dublin city, and is also popular as a venue for concerts, gala dinners, graduation ceremonies and other events.

We now have a number of vacancies for Events Assistants to work alongside our Verger team, to support in the set up and de-rig of events. Assistants work under the direction of Cathedral Management and the Marketing & Events team.

Hours will be offered subject to requirements and availability and contracts will run for an initial period of 6 months commencing as soon as possible. Minimum shifts will be based on a four-hour call. Shifts for the next calendar month are brought to the team mid-month, and each team member selects which shifts they are available for. If a team member cannot work their shift due to extenuating circumstances, we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible but we may request cover on short notice, subject to availability. Shifts are usually 14:00-23:00 and 18:00-00:00.

The rate of pay is €13.70 per hour.

Workshop Facilitators (Music/Art/Drama/History)

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral is seeking to develop a panel of freelance Workshop Facilitators to deliver workshops to schools and family audiences. They may also work with the Education Department to develop other activities for young visitors. Facilitators will be paid a fee on a per-session basis. The frequency of sessions will depend on demand. Though music, art, and drama have been highlighted, if prospective candidates have ideas about other subjects which might work well in the Cathedral’s Education Programme, please do recommend this.

For more information and how to apply, please visit the Workshop Facilitators news post.

Safeguarding Trust Panel Members

Voluntary / Governance

Under the constitution of the Church of Ireland, each individual church and cathedral is required to have a Safeguarding Trust Panel (STP) chaired by the incumbent. In Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, this Panel forms a subcommittee of the Board and is chaired by the Dean. The Panel has a role in the oversight and support of the Safeguarding Officer and in supporting the Safeguarding Officer in ensuring implementation of the Cathedral’s bespoke Child Protection Policy.

We are looking for volunteers to join the Safeguarding Trust Panel. The Panel meets approximately every two months in a hybrid (online/in person) manner. People with previous experience working with children or in any other safeguarding-related context are strongly encouraged to put themselves forward.

For more information, please contact Clark Brydon (Education & Safeguarding Officer) for further information.
